Web Hosting FAQ's

Q. What is Web Hosting?

A. In order to have a website on the Internet you need a place to store your website files and that's what's referred to as Web Hosting or WebSite Hosting. It can be compared to having a business in your community, first you need a name for your business and then you need to buy or rent a store front in a mall with other stores, or in a business district to house your business so customers can come into your store. Website Hosting is like renting a store front or office for your business. A web host is a computer that is connected to the Internet, allowing others on the internet to access and view your website. When visitors come to a website the computer the website is on serves the website files to their computer. Any computer connected to the internet can be a web host, however a regular computer like the one you're using is not powerful enough to serve world wide internet traffic 24/7/365 that's where professional web hosting enters the picture. A web host has powerful server computers built for storing and serving huge amounts of data to thousands of internet users at the same time. These server computers are stored in a Data Center or sometimes referred to as a Server Farm. Click Here for More Info on our Data Center

Q. What is a Website?

A. A website, also written as Web site,[1] web site, or simply site,[2] is a set of related web pages served from a single web domain. A website is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via a network such as the Internet or a private local area network through an Internet address known as a Uniform resource locator. All publicly accessible websites collectively constitute the World Wide Web.

To put it in simple brick and mortar terms a website can be compared to the products, files, and marketing collaterals you would store in a rented store front or office.

Q. What is a Domain Name?

A. To put it simply a Domain name is like registering a business name, once you have paid the business license fee that name belongs only to you, no-one else can ever use your name as long as you keep it renewed. To explain it in more accurate terms - "A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control on the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). Any name registered in the DNS is a domain name...... the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) manages the top-level development and architecture of the Internet domain name space. It authorizes domain name registrars, through which domain names may be registered and reassigned "

Q. If I pay for a domain name don't I get a website and hosting included with my domain name registration fee?

A. Registering a domain name is entirely separate from having a website and hosting your website files. To make it easy to understand a Domain name can be compared to registering a business name with your state government, just because you have paid the state a fee for you to use that name for your business does not mean the state is going to include a store front and all your products in it too, you have to rent your own store front (web hosting) and then decorate and fill your store front with your products and marketing  collaterals (website).

Q. What is DNS?
DNS or Domain Name System, is a very complicated process but to explain it as simply as possible think of DNS as a street name, each business and house in your community has a numbered address on that street, but to find the address you need to know the name of the street to point the way allowing the mailman to find your exact address to deliver mail and others to find you and come visit. DNS is also a type of street name but in a computer community, it translates that www.domain you type into your browser into an IP address where the website is located, and tells your browser which server computer (street) it needs to connect to get to the website you want to visit.

When a web site is set up on a web host the web host will create what's called a Master DNS record on their DNS servers.  Your domain name registration must match the web host's DNS (street name) allowing others to visit your website files stored on the web host's computer. the DNS tells visitors' browsers where your website files are so they can come visit your site.

Q. Why Don't you offer Unlimited disc space and bandwidth like some other web hosts do?

A. Unlimited Hosting is a LIE! We don't lie! Web Hosts who advertise unlimited disc space and bandwidth are outright LYING in order to entice you into buying their service, these web hosts care only about the quantity of users they have they don't care about the quality of service they provide to their users so they over stuff their IPs with hundreds of thousands of websites all of whom believe they each have unlimited disc space and bandwidth on that server, but the server resources are finite perhaps containing 240 GB of total disc space running 1 TB of bandwidth, any reasonable person would question "how can hundreds of thousands of websites on the same server computer all have UNLIMITED disc space and bandwidth when the machine they're sharing only has 240 GB disc space and 1 TB of bandwidth available?" That's when you read the fine print of the "Unlimited" web hosts Terms of Service and find

  • Bandwidth restrictions
"Unlimited" web hosts include a monthly allowance of bandwidth for each website on their server and that allowance will be noted in the fine print of their terms of service which most folks don't read, The monthly bandwidth allowance is severely restricted thereby ensuring users can never actually use the "Unlimited" Disk space of their account. if your site receives too many visitors, or you upload a overly large image from your camera, you will exceed your monthly allowance and  your site will be replaced with an error message without notice until the next month when the bandwidth allowance rolls over to zero, you will not be able to access your site to edit it, send or receive email and your visitors will see an error page, OR you pay the "unlimited" web host more money for more bandwidth, generally around $10/GB. With our service you know how much bandwidth you're allowed from the get go, if your site is nearing your limits you will receive an email notification and we will add more bandwidth to your account to keep your website online, if your site exceeds the monthly allowance 3 months in a row we will give you the option to upgrade to a bigger package or pay $5/GB overage fees, thus ensuring your customers NEVER see "ERROR, this account has exceeded it's bandwidth limit" instead of your website.
  • CPU restrictions
The amount of CPU (the hosting computer's central processing unit) resources is severely restricted on each "Unlimited" web hosting account, the "Unlimited" web host's terms of service generally only allow for less than 10% of CPU usage per customer, what this means is if your site receives more than a modest amount of traffic or if you upload too many files to your web hosting space or run any type of user interactive scripts on your site your account will consume too much CPU which may very probably  result in your site being down or limited to the point of being unusable, or the web host deleting your account altogether without notice. We do not put any CPU restrictions on our users, we limit disc space and bandwidth not CPU, we also limit the number of websites we'll put on a server and our servers run quad CPU's with plenty of power to handle our clients sites.
  • Inode limits Each website account is limited to x number of files. If you exceed the Inode limits your site will be replaced with an error message automatically without notification  This we do NOT limit, you can put as many web files on your hosting space with us as will fit in your allowed disc space.

But please don't take our word for it, research it yourself, after all your business is too important to take the word of any web host

Q. How Can you offer Free Website Hosting?
A. Honestly, running web hosting servers is VERY expensive, even our paid hosting packages have a very narrow profit margin, but we receive alot of website donation requests from good not for profits and startup small businesses who can't afford a website and hosting so we offer a small amount of disc space and bandwidth on one of our domains (, with plenty of room to store a standard sized website, to good folks who just need a little helping hand. We are able to offset our expense somewhat by putting a few non-obtrusive ads on your free website, clickthrus on these ads by your site visitors help to pay for the disc space and bandwidth your free site is using.

Q. How can I remove your ads from my Free Website and get my own domain name?
. To remove the ads from your free website simply upgrade to a full featured hosting package
and to get your own domain name you will need to register your desired name with your ICANN accredited registrar of choice. The simplest and most seamless way for your website on our servers is to register your domain name thru us here for $15.95 per year this way your nameservers are automatically set correctly to and (our nameservers required to show your website on our hosting service, if you register your domain name thru a different registrar you will need to manually reset the nameservers to these)  Once you have purchased a low cost hosting package and domain name please allow up to 72 hours for your domain and ad free website to resolve world wide.
